The CARE Approach is an acronym for being Compassionate, Attentive, Responsive and Eclectic. The CARE Approach is defined as a value-based concept and principle that promotes strategies to optimize harmony in individual, group, and organizational relationships. It can be used, but is not limited to approaches dealing with incidents, issues, or problems. It has universal and international applications to business, government and non-profits, healthcare and social worker training, military, schools, community relationship strategies, and workforce relationship improvement. It is humanistic in design and maximizes the Affective Domain of human behavior for learning and performance.
In 2001 the CARE Approach was designed by co-author Aaron T. Olson (ATO) to provide awareness and strategies to improve upon workforce and community relationships needed in public safety. Since its development, thousands of people have received training on the CARE Approach, by ATO which includes professionals from fire, police, corrections, 911, healthcare, business, transportation and community college and university students. Many of the students who have received instruction on the CARE Approach have embraced its principles in their personal and professional lives and want more people to know about it. In response to this growing interest beyond public safety, co-author ATO, a Baby Boomer, and co-author Paige E. Olson of Generation Z have combined their experiences and insights to write the CARE Approach: Seeking Solutions for Human Problems in book and e-book form.
